Keywords:

The human microbiome, a diverse and complex ecosystem of microorganisms, plays a pivotal
role in maintaining physiological balance within various body systems. Recent research has
highlighted the significance of the microbiome in female reproductive health, influencing
processes ranging from the menstrual cycle to pregnancy outcomes. This paper aims to
explore the current understanding of the microbiome's involvement in female reproductive
health, with a focus on its role during menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum
recovery. The review will examine both the microbial communities of the vagina, cervix, and
endometrium, as well as the impact of the gut microbiome on reproductive health.
Furthermore, it will address the mechanisms through which the microbiome may affect
hormonal regulation, immune function, and inflammation, and discuss potential therapeutic
interventions targeting the microbiome to improve reproductive health outcomes.
