Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disease characterized by the breakdown of
cartilage, leading to pain, stiffness, and impaired mobility. While the exact causes of OA are
multifactorial, physical activity has been widely recognized for its potential benefits in
preventing and managing the condition. This research paper explores the impact of physical
activity on joint health, specifically focusing on its role in the prevention and management of
osteoarthritis. The paper reviews existing literature on the relationship between exercise and
joint health, examining both aerobic and strength training exercises and their effects on
inflammation, pain reduction, and mobility. Evidence suggests that regular physical activity
can reduce the risk of developing OA, alleviate symptoms, and improve overall functional
capacity in individuals already diagnosed with the disease. The study also discusses the
physiological mechanisms underlying these benefits and offers recommendations for exercise
interventions in OA management.
