Abstract

The field of neuropharmacology plays a pivotal role in understanding the mechanisms by

which psychotropic drugs exert their effects on the brain and behavior. Psychotropic drugs,

including antidepressants, antipsychotics, anxiolytics, and mood stabilizers, have

revolutionized the treatment of mental health disorders, ranging from depression and anxiety

to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This paper explores the neuropharmacology of these

drugs, focusing on their mechanisms of action at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels.

Additionally, the clinical applications of these drugs are discussed, with attention to their

therapeutic efficacy, side effects, and potential for personalized treatment strategies. The

ongoing development of psychotropic drugs and their implications for improving mental

health care are also highlighted.
