Abstract

The gut microbiome is a diverse and dynamic community of microorganisms residing in the

gastrointestinal tract. Recent research has highlighted its significant role in both maintaining

health and influencing disease outcomes. In pediatric populations, the gut microbiome plays a

crucial role in early development, immune system maturation, and disease susceptibility. This

paper explores the impact of the gut microbiome on pediatric health, focusing on its influence

on immune function, neurological development, and pediatric diseases such as allergies,

asthma, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and obesity. The emerging evidence on gut

dysbiosis in children further underscores its potential in the pathogenesis of these conditions.

This paper concludes by discussing the implications of these findings for clinical practice and

future research in pediatric health.
